Are you having a day off soon, but you are not sure about what to do? Well, you are not alone. We have all gone through this dilemma: Should I sleep in, go out and have fun, or finish my to-do’s? The choice is up to you. It will depend on whether you want to be a chilling kind of person, a to-do crossing person, or an adventure seeker. Whatever it is that you choose, there are certain things you can do to feel rested and gratified when you go back to work. For this reason, we thought you might find these tips on making the most out of your day off helpful!
Choose to plan ahead of time.
Firstly, you must be aware of when your days off take place. You could have them on your calendar and set reminders. Setting reminders is helpful since it will allow you to make complex plans and get rid of unfinished business before your day off. However, that is not the only benefit of this tip.
For example, here at Job Duck, we get the 5th of July off this year. Nevertheless, the 5th of July lands on a Monday. By acknowledging this information, we can see the limitless possibilities. In this case, you can use your time wisely to go on a trip from Friday afternoon to Monday afternoon, make sure your loved ones spend this time with you or use another day off to rest longer. All of these, thanks to planning ahead of time!
You can also plan ahead of time by making a list of things you would like to do. Sometimes when our day off is bound to happen soon, we don’t have ideas on what to do. Therefore, try keeping a list in a journal or bookmark tabs on your browser with places you want to visit or activities you’d like to do. As a result, when you have a day off, you can check your list and pick the most convenient option (or make it happen). Not to mention that having a goal increases excitement, makes you feel more motivated and helps you save enough money. When you set short-term and long-term goals, it is more likely for you to go to that place you’ve always wanted to see or try that adrenaline-rushing activity.
Choose a change of scenery.
Visiting the zoo, a park, or a mall are some ideas for you to take advantage of the time off. Although, if you have more than one day to spare, try choosing a farther destination to make the most out of your time off! With this in mind, you can pick a centric-located hotel or one close to the places you want to visit. If you can walk to every attraction once you get there, it enhances your experience since you see every detail of your surroundings, not to mention it is better for the planet and your health. Finally, while looking for a hotel, you could try one without a restaurant to encourage yourself to go out and try local delicacies (Yum!).
Use your time wisely.
When you have a day off, it is tempting to wake up late and watch movies all day long with snacks. However, we must agree that this makes us lose track of time and, in consequence, it restrains us from doing everything we had intended to. On the other hand, if we time our activities, set schedules, and wake up earlier, we’ll have more than enough time to watch movies and handle our errands. In the end, remember that it is YOUR day off. You control your time and how you want to spend it to enjoy it to the fullest. This way, when you go back to work, you will feel fulfilled, rejuvenated, and ready to–as we say here at Job Duck–attack your day!
