Hi everyone! My name is Morne, and I reside in South Africa. I’ve been working with Job Duck for over three years now. Today, I’d like to take you on a journey as I discuss my life beyond the desk and how Job Duck has made it possible for me to achieve a healthy work-life balance. Buckle up as I take you on a ride through sunny South Africa!
Ons Gaan Nou Braai!
“Ons gaan nou braai” is a common phrase in South Africa that directly translates to “we are going to have a BBQ now.” Ask any South African, whether it’s 5 p.m. or 3 a.m., ons gaan nou braai, and we mean it.
Often during my workdays, I’ll take a 15-minute break to start the fire. Once it’s at the right temperature, I’ll take my lunch break to braai. As the smoke rises from the BBQ, the mouthwatering aroma of steak (and all sorts of meat) fills the air.
This, among several other reasons, is why I love working with Job Duck. I can simply walk out of my home office and enjoy one of my favorite hobbies.
This is South Africa!
Besides meeting friendly people who will invite you to BBQs at odd hours, the country offers plenty of breathtaking sights. So, if you’re not living in South Africa, it’s a destination you should consider for your next trip. Here are a few places you won’t want to miss:
- Table Mountain
- Blyde River Canyon
- Kruger National Park
- Drakensberg Mountains
- Garden Route
- Cape Winelands
Since starting my career with Job Duck, I’ve had the privilege of visiting some of these places, while others remain on my bucket list.
Working with Job Duck means that you can travel within your country as long as you have a quiet workspace and a stable internet connection. And if you want to relax, take vacation leave!
More than anything, nothing makes this company happier than seeing its employees achieve a healthy work-life balance.
The Pride of a Nation
The Springboks, our national rugby team, are considered superheroes by many South Africans. With four World Cup trophies, winners of the 2024 Rugby Championship, and current holders of the Freedom Cup, they are the pride of our nation.
Whenever they play in Johannesburg or Pretoria, my girlfriend, friends, and I always plan to watch their games. We usually take a bus to the stadium, where the atmosphere is filled with songs and excitement.
Below, I’m sharing a short snippet of our national anthem sung by more than 51,000 proud South Africans during a match against Australia.
Family Above All
Living out my hobbies, traveling the country, and watching the Springboks live in action creates memories that will stay with me forever. However, being surrounded by my family is priceless.
Words cannot describe how much I love them. As exciting as life may be, thunderstorms tend to arise. My family has always been there for me. If life takes one of us on a rollercoaster, you can bet we will all buy tickets for the ride… and then we’ll have ice cream as we stare at the rainbow.
They play a vital role in my life, and I feel truly blessed to call them my family.
We also have Trompie and Meisiekind, who are a huge part of the family!
I could write a lengthy book about how much we adore our two pets. They are always with me while I work from home. Honestly, I can’t imagine working in an office again and leaving my two best friends all alone.
Thank You, Job Duck!
For over three years, I’ve worked with this incredible company. Through Job Duck, I’ve grown both professionally and personally. Without the opportunity to work from home and achieve a breathtaking work-life balance, I honestly wouldn’t have lived this life—a journey I consider spectacular.
I’ve met remarkable people here. Individuals who inspire me daily. Friends for life.
Finally, if you’re reading my blog and seeking a life-changing career opportunity, consider applying for a position at Job Duck. Take my article as a testimony. Before I joined this company, I felt burnt out. I barely had time to spend with my family or on my hobbies. That all changed when I started working with Job Duck. What do you say?
