Sharing is caring!
When Caro joined our team, she already knew the work well. Working 100% remotely with a U.S.-based employer, however, was a new chapter. It turned out to be the one she had been waiting for. In this Weekly Tea blog, you’ll meet Caro from Colombia as she talks about her role as a Payroll Specialist, life outside of work, and the advice she wishes she had heard before applying. Enjoy the read!
Meet Caro
Caro is a remote professional working as a Payroll Specialist with one of our U.S.-based employers. She handles payroll and benefits administration across multiple companies. Her responsibilities span both daily and weekly tasks, and after six months, she manages all of them independently.
Interestingly, Caro studied international business and has spent around eight years in payroll. Her background covers U.S. and Canadian payroll systems, benefits administration, and state tax compliance. She knows this work inside out.
Caro’s Experience Working with Job Duck
Before joining Job Duck, Caro worked in hybrid settings. She split her time between the office and home. Working 100% remotely was new territory. It was also exactly what she had been looking for.
“I wanted to be able to manage my time as I wanted, to have more flexibility, and to be more comfortable working from home,” she explained. A familiar field, a new way of working: the move to Job Duck brought both at once.
Onboarding centered around calls and training sessions with her colleagues. Caro valued that structure. Even in a field she knew well, learning how a new employer operates takes time. She had the support to do it properly.
Once that foundation was in place, the independence followed. Six months later, Caro is confident and doing work she has always enjoyed. Working with numbers, keeping everything compliant, making sure payroll runs without a hitch: that is what drives her, and this role delivers it.
Life Beyond Work
Away from her desk, Caro keeps busy. She practices yoga, reads regularly, and spends quality time with her family. Languages are another long-standing passion: she has studied French and German over the years and is currently learning Portuguese.
“I have more time for me instead of going to traffic every day,” she said. She recently joined a reading club. Before, she simply would not have had the time. Fresh meals at home, no commute, and more room for the things she cares about: working from home has opened up her days well beyond the job itself.
