It is with The Mighty Duck Challenge that we reach the end of one of our favorite months of the year! September, the month of National Self-Improvement.
Imagine yourself flying up in the sky, surrounded by hundreds like you. You have a pair of beautiful wings and are moving dynamically between fluffy clouds and drops of rain. You look ahead, and you see chaos, disaster, fear—a gigantic storm. You’re scared, your heart beats very fast, and you see others flying away terrified. You have to make a decision: Follow the runaways or continue your journey to the green fields. The Mighty Duck Challenge prepared us for the importance of leaving our comfort zone to seek greatness and taught us that giving up should never be an option. Here is what we learned from the five stages of the challenge:
Learning to Fly
We all have to start somewhere. Every dream you have begins with hope, and then reality kicks in where hard work and dedication are the only options for bringing you closer to reaching the stars. A place where everybody wants to be, but a few are willing to fly. All of us want to see the bright light of success, be on top of the world, and live the ‘never look back’ life where we realize the past was just a stepping stone into unwrapping our ‘present.’ During the process, your dreams might turn into a nightmare. You should ask yourself, “Am I going to wake up frightened, or am I willing to fight through every obstacle to achieve greatness for the rest of my life?”
Getting the Grip
Now that you have decided that nothing will come in your way to achieve greatness- reality begins. Trust yourself, be confident and positive towards your goal. Visualize your dream, and let it sink in. You will fall from time to time, but every winner loses in the beginning. Make every step of the journey fun. It’s a dream that you’re busy turning into reality- be proud of that! Break down your plans into tiny pieces, and make sure that you don’t try to do everything at once. Great things take time! Remember to find wise help and loving support, as negative people will always try to cut your wings during the process. Get a grip on your dreams by taking the necessary risks that feel right for you! It is a great way to spread your wings!
Turbulence
As you are on your way to the beautiful stars, rain falls out of nowhere, which slows you down. Your wings feel heavy, and you are getting tired. You are halfway there, but you are looking back at a safe landing on the ground. This is where you have to keep on pushing. A quote by Mohamed Walid Kabbaj states: If achieving our goals in life were easy, the concept of failure would not have existed. People believe one step back means they have to start over, which causes them to give up. Remember that you’re going to mess up in the process. But rather than declare yourself a failure, use your strength to create a strategy to get back on the path. Dust yourself off and fly right into the bigger picture!
Eye of the Storm
You dusted yourself off, accepted that you would fail now and then, and began to fly back on your route to the stars. All of a sudden, thunder strikes in the air. You can barely see in front of you as you experience the mist with heavy rain! Trust your will and inner strength. You thought the process couldn’t get more complicated than it already was. You might realize now why only a few people ever reach the stars. Remember that your dream doesn’t have an expiration date. Even if you have a strategy, you’ll still be tested. A quote by Michael Jordan states: I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed. It should motivate you to fly as high as possible, even if you feel you can’t push yourself any further. You didn’t come this far to let your nightmares destroy your beautiful dream. Don’t give up now! The storm can’t break your wings!
Welcome home
The storm is left behind, and all you can see is a beautiful valley with mountains and a great pond to relax your tired wings. The stars are shooting in your direction. Would you please take a deep breath and let it sink in? How does it feel? You kept on pushing and destroying all of the obstacles in your way; congratulations! Research from the University of Scranton shows that only 8% of people fulfill their dreams. You are part of a small percentage. Welcome home, and thank you for taking the time to read our article. If you have goals or accomplished any dreams, please let us know in the comments section. We love your stories. We love motivation, and most of all, we want you to be successful!
