On the night of Halloween, the children will walk fearfully yet excitedly through the streets of haunting decorations. As adults who walk on a road of our career path, we might wonder if being a virtual assistant is a ‘trick or treat.’ I’m going to give you reasons why I believe that it’s the most satisfying candy one can ever eat.
Working From Home
You work in the comfort of your home. This can contribute to a quieter, more convenient working environment. You can decide on your workspace, what office desk you want to use, and decorate your space as desired. In an office environment, distractions tend to come from noisy colleagues, constant movements, and the consistent sound of telephones ringing. A study by Stanford of 16,000 workers over 9 months found that working from home increases productivity by 13%. At home, you can set up your office to maximize productivity and minimize work stress. As a virtual assistant myself, working from home suits me best. I tend to be less productive when I find myself in a noisy environment. The only ‘noise’ I hear is the peaceful sounds of birds chirping in the beautiful Pine tree next to my window while I work comfortably in my decorated environment.
You Save Money
For those who never worked virtually, the fear of not working in an office might crawl up to you like a scary serial killer from a classic horror movie. Have you ever thought about your expenses while working in an office away from home? Gas, car maintenance, transportation, parking fees, a professional wardrobe, lunches bought out, and more can all add up to expenses you could’ve saved as a virtual assistant. Saving up that money to relax on the beach, staring at the deep blue sea, feels much more satisfying.
Stuck In Traffic
Being stuck in traffic is a dreadful way to start your morning. And getting out of the house in the morning is anything but pleasant. Imagine getting out of bed, having a cup of coffee, dropping the kids off at school, or taking the dog for a walk, and then slipping into your quiet office to begin your day. Some will say that’s only a dream from which I should wake up, but let’s say I am dreaming- never wake me up. I invite you to try it out yourself and apply for one of our positions today!
Flexibility
Flexibility is the most significant benefit for people who want to work remotely rather than coming to the office every day. Remote workers have complete control over their schedules, making it much easier to balance their personal and professional lives. At Job Duck, we provide two 15-minute breaks and a one-hour lunch break of your choice. Flexibility lowers stress, provides more time for hobbies and interests, and improves personal relationships.
Work Where You Desire
Let’s say your spouse gets promoted to a new company, but you also work at an office. What will the chances be of you getting promoted to the same city where they might need to move? Will you take a chance to seek an opportunity in a new environment, or will you settle for a long-distance relationship until you’ve figured it out? Working remotely also means that you can do your job anywhere around the world and move as you desire without starting over at the bottom of a new company with each move. How awesome is that?
Since I’ve started working at Job Duck, I’ve been treated with all sorts of candy, some more delicious than my wildest desires. Being a virtual assistant gave me the freedom to have an amazing work-life balance, with flexible hours and an incredible team that’s always willing to help. At the end of the day, the choice is yours. It’s all about what you prefer as a career path, but one thing is certain; if you decide to become a virtual assistant, all of your fears should be thrown out of the window. It’s becoming part of our world, it’s here to stay, and it’s absolutely incredible!
