We are excited to share with you that, on May 26th, 2022, Alina López, Job Duck’s brand ambassador for Latin America, was featured on the Mil Palabras Podcast. The Mil Palabras Podcast is a Colombian podcast that focuses on sharing effective communication ideas for digital businesses. The topics include organizational culture, marketing, entrepreneurship, and personal development.
Each episode, hosted by Santiago Ríos, offers valuable communication tips for non-communicators as well as professionals in marketing, human resources, and human talent.
In this episode, Santiago and Alina discuss the most important aspects to remember when applying for a remote job. However, the recommendations shared can be helpful when applying for any online job, not only those with U.S.-based companies.
Alina gave some tips on how to prepare a resume that will attract employers. The most important recommendation they shared was to customize all required documents and files to the company/position you’re applying for. For instance, if you are applying for a marketing position and you have both finance and graphic design experience, it would be best to emphasize the job experience that is more related to marketing. In this example, developing a graphic designing background rather than the finance background will make you more eligible.
At the same time, Santiago and Alina discussed the general interview questions a candidate should expect when being interviewed for a home-based position and the best ways to answer confidently and positively. Alina suggested that candidates describe their personal experiences from prior employment when answering the questions.
Apply to a remote job successfully.
Alina and Santiago also mentioned you should show commitment and professionalism at every stage of the application process. They agreed that, in order to be successful when applying for a remote job, it’s important, to be honest.
“No matter how good you’re at pretending to be skillful at something you’re not. The truth always comes out, and it’s better to always be honest with the company of your interest. If you don’t know how to do something, make it clear that you’re willing to learn it fast with guidance.” – Alina, JD Brand Ambassador
