We are excited to share our brand-new Weekly Tea with Karlien from South Africa. In this segment, we invite Job Duck virtual assistants from all over the world to tell us what it’s like to work from home with Job Duck.
In this episode, we meet Karlien. Job Duck’s application process took almost a month, culminating with her being placed with a U.S. employer. Her guide described the application process from the very beginning, giving an estimate of how much time each phase would take.
“The interview process was certainly unique.” – Karlien from South Africa
Karlien is a virtual executive assistant for a U.S.-based law firm. Some of her daily tasks include attending meetings and compiling documents. She also creates the necessary templates for the firm, books appointments, and maintains communication with the law firm’s clients.
Alina asked Karlien about her experience so far working with a U.S.-based firm, to which Karlien responded with positive thoughts. According to her, the difference in time zones does not pose any problems for her, and that she has adapted to it well.
“I really enjoy it, I have the mornings to myself. I haven’t had trouble adjusting to the different time zones at all. It’s been extremely fun. I do like the job and I really enjoy every day.” – Karlien from South Africa
Karlen mentioned that she values the extra time she gets to spend on her hobbies as a result of working from home. Furthermore, she finds the convenience of working from home as well as getting rid of commuting very important.
“There’s no long commute. I don’t have to travel to work and back everyday. I can just jump in, get started and work through, so it definitely saves me a lot of time.” – Karlien from South Africa
