Sharing is caring!

Organizations are currently looking for creative people to help them innovate in their processes, products, and services, and although it is true that creativity needs an element of spontaneity to develop, it is also true that this ability is like a muscle that can be trained.  Continue reading these 7 Ways to Boost your creativity to learn how to do it!

Creativity is defined as the ability to create and produce new and valuable things; it is considered the way the brain works to reach new conclusions and solve problems in an original way. Accordingly, it is based on knowledge, experience, and practice. So, here’s how to boost your creativity.

1. Read.

Reading is essential for proper brain functioning. Not only does it relax you, but the texts help you develop cognitive thinking, memory, and creativity, as they provide us with a series of new ideas and experiences.

2. Experience.

Get out of your comfort zone; new people and experiences result in new ideas and perspectives. Repeating the same people and experiences equals more of the same ideas. So try new things, and if they don’t work, try others.

3. Exercise.

By exercising, the heart pumps more blood, and more oxygen enters the brain, which expands the possibilities of processing information and developing creativity. Do not forget to hydrate so that your mind works much better.

4. Create a record of all the ideas that come to your mind.

If you don’t, they can disappear and never come back. You can load sketchbooks, and notes, you can even write them on your mobile or record an audio note.

5. Daydream.

Just relax, close your eyes, and don’t edit your thoughts. Take a deep breath and let your mind flow freely. You will be surprised by the creative ideas that may come to your mind.

6. Believe in your creativity.

In studies on creativity, psychologists have examined the characteristics of creative people. Everyone proved to have a common denominator: their attitude. Have faith in your abilities. Believe it. You are creative.

7. Overcome your fear of failure.

Finally, let’s remember that to experience, we need to overcome our fears. Creativity feeds on our ability to surprise, excite and enter as children the world of the unknown.

All of these tips are superb tools to help one stand out of the crowd. I especially agree with point 4. “Create a record of all the ideas that come to your mind.” That´s exactly what I´ve been implementing in my day-to-day lately. Many times has happened that brilliant ideas cross my mind and because I fail to record them they just slip away not to return. That and mnemotechnic props help you recall that moment of brilliancy effortlessly so you can put it into good use.
