Beyond the Desk: Melody from Argentina

Sharing is caring!

Hi everyone! My name is Melody, and I’m a Public Relations Specialist at Job Duck. Working from home in Argentina has been a long-time dream come true. Plus, my team members are amazing! You know you’re in the right place when you work with people who make every day feel as uplifting as a sunrise after a long night.

Thanks to the work-life balance I’ve achieved at Job Duck, I’d love to share my adventures beyond the desk. Therefore, keep reading to discover my life outside of work and why I consider Job Duck the best company I’ve ever worked for.

The Long-Awaited Reunion

Beyond the Desk: Mel with Family

It took six long years, but I finally got to see my family after they left Argentina.

For those who don’t know me, I’m the youngest of a big family. One of my oldest brothers moved to Vancouver, Canada, with his wife and two daughters. Shortly after they settled in, COVID hit, and travel became impossible. During that time, my sister-in-law got pregnant, and I couldn’t wait to meet my new niece. But without a stable income, affording a plane ticket seemed out of reach.

A Journey Made Possible by Job Duck

In February, everything changed when I started working at Job Duck. I immediately began saving for this trip, and by September, the moment I had been dreaming of finally arrived. I took some well-deserved vacation leave and flew to Vancouver, where I met my niece—now 5 years old—on her birthday and spent quality time with my other nieces, who are now 8 and 12.

Birthday Party

The birthday girl even insisted that we all dress up as princesses for her big day. Thus, how could we say no? We celebrated her birthday, went to a concert, and I was lucky enough to be there for my brother’s birthday too.

Tori Concert

We went to Tori Kelly’s concert, and the staff upgraded our seats to the front row!

She saw my sign and gave me a shout-out.

Family Moments to Remember

We laughed, danced, watched movies, and ran around the park. We had a wonderful time. Hence, those six years apart just melted away. And now, I’m determined not to let that much time pass before we see each other again. This visit was everything I needed. I’m sure my family and I will never forget our amazing moments together. What a time beyond the desk!

It was hard saying goodbye it’s always difficult. But now we know that we’re going to see each other soon.

Gratitude for Work-Life Balance

I feel incredibly fortunate to work at Job Duck, where I’m part of an amazing team that values a healthy work environment. As a result, I can actually say that I’ve been able to balance my work and personal life. This trip to see my brother, sister-in-law, and nieces would not have been possible without the flexibility and support I’ve found here. I’m grateful for the opportunity to make memories that will last a lifetime, while also being part of this company that truly believes in work-life balance. Thank you for reading Beyond the Desk: Melody from Argentina!
