“I Feel Appreciated” – Esmeralda from Colombia

Sharing is caring!

We are excited to welcome Esmeralda, one of our incredible team members from Colombia. In this Weekly Tea episode, she shares more about her role, what it’s like working with Job Duck, and some great advice for anyone thinking of applying. Enjoy the read!

Meet Esmeralda

Esmeralda is a remote professional from Colombia working with one of our U.S.-based employers. She started her career with Job Duck as an Intake Specialist, but her current role is at the front desk.

Her day-to-day tasks include checking emails, logging into the queue, and taking calls:

“Most of the calls are quick and straightforward. I ask who the client is and what they need, then either transfer the call or take a message for the attorney.”

A Healthy Work Environment

When asked about her experience working with Job Duck, Esmeralda said that it has been pleasant so far. “This is actually the first company where I’ve worked fully remotely, outside of the pandemic, and I’ve really enjoyed it,” Esmeralda further explained.

One thing that stood out to her was the healthy environment. Esmeralda mentioned that she was pleasantly surprised by how much importance the company placed on boundaries, time off, and maintaining a healthy balance between work and personal life.

She further explained that she came from environments where mental health and personal time were not a priority at all. Job Duck is different.

Feeling Appreciated and Supported

We all have our reasons why we want to move in a certain direction. For Esmeralda, she wanted to find a career that would allow her to be close to her grandmother. At the time, her grandmother needed Esmeralda’s care.

As soon as she found a career with Job Duck, the stars finally aligned:

“My team gave me the flexibility to step away when needed, even if it was for an hour or two. At the same time, they trusted me to stay on top of my responsibilities. That meant a lot to me.

For me, that support made a big difference because when your personal life is not in a good place, it affects everything. Knowing I had that understanding and flexibility helped me stay focused and perform better at work.”

Life After Work

Apart from taking care of her grandmother, Esmeralda enjoys taking her dog for a walk and spending time with her boyfriend. During the Weekly Tea interview, Esmeralda teased, “I have 100 hobbies.”

She further mentioned that what she really likes is that when the workday ends, it’s done. She doesn’t have to think about work until the next day. According to Esmeralda, the separation is very important to her.

Before this topic came to an end, Esmeralda mentioned that she also likes to stay active. She enjoys painting, cooking, and trying new things. “It’s been great having the time and energy to do all of that,” she said.

Her Advice to New Applicants

As the Weekly Tea interview concluded, Esmeralda wanted to share valuable advice to professionals interested in applying for our career opportunities:

“I would say be patient. The process can take time, and it’s easy to feel uncertain, especially when you’re applying to many places and not hearing back.

But stay confident and trust yourself. Be honest about who you are. If you come in with the right mindset and stay true to yourself, you will get the opportunity to learn and prove what you can do.”
