“It Has Been a Beautiful Journey” – Luis from El Salvador

Sharing is caring!

In this week’s Weekly Tea, we meet Luis from El Salvador. He shares how he discovered Job Duck, his experience working with a U.S.-based team, and the advice he would give to anyone applying. Enjoy the read!

Meet Luis

Before joining Job Duck, Luis worked in roles that required him to be on-site. However, by the time he got home, he had little left for hobbies or family, as the commute started to take a toll on him.

Around that time, he started paying closer attention to new opportunities. While scrolling through Instagram, he came across a Job Duck post that caught his attention. He felt he had to apply and could not let it slip by.

Today, Luis works remotely with one of our U.S.-based employers in his role as a Client Happiness Coordinator. His tasks include sending documentation, coordinating meetings, and supporting event planning.

Settling Into Remote Work

Luis admitted that working remotely took some getting used to at first. Nevertheless, he feels more confident now. He jokes that the only recurring distraction is his cat, who insists on being involved in every workday.

He further mentioned that before each shift, he prepares for work in his home office (his own dedicated space). Then, when the day ends, he closes the door and steps away. That separation allows him to keep work and personal time apart.

Working with the Team

As the Weekly Tea interview continued, the host asked Luis about his experience working with the team. A smile crossed his face as he began explaining how much he enjoys working with Job Duck.

“My boss is very open. She is always looking out for my well-being and for my mental health as well.”

Even though Luis works remotely and there is distance between him and his team, it has not been a barrier. He feels seen as a person, not just a number. That is what he values most.

Life Outside of Work

Luis enjoys an adventurous lifestyle. He lives close to the mountains and spends a lot of time biking and hiking. It is a hobby, but it also supports his mental well-being by giving him a way to disconnect and reset his mind.

“Being able to go outside helps me clear my mind.”

Furthermore, he enjoys spending quality time with his loved ones. Luis mentioned that his parents are getting older, and being just five minutes away means he can take care of them.

Would Luis Recommend Job Duck?

When asked if he would recommend Job Duck, Luis did not hesitate. “It has been a beautiful journey,” he said. Moreover, he has already recommended it to many friends, but he always adds one thing. “You need to make sure you prepare yourself for the way home office work is done,” he explained.
