Sharing is caring!
In this week’s Weekly Tea, we meet Desiree from South Africa. She shares how she discovered Job Duck, her experience working with a U.S.-based team, and the advice she would give to anyone considering applying to our career opportunities. Enjoy the read!
Meet Desiree
Desiree is currently working remotely as an Executive Assistant with one of our U.S.-based employers. Her day-to-day responsibilities focus on organization and communication.
She manages correspondence from her executives, keeps records of attachments and documents, assists with onboarding new clients, and prepares retainers when needed.
Going Through the Application Process
When Desiree looks back on the application process, one thing stands out to her. The process was detailed, yet easy to follow. Whenever something was unclear, she knew exactly where to ask for help.
Moreover, she shared that every question she raised was answered quickly. As a result, she never felt left on her own to figure things out. According to her, the Job Duck team had her back throughout the process.
How This Compares to Her Experience in South Africa
Desiree explains that working with Job Duck feels very different from what many professionals face locally. In South Africa, she says, pressure around turnaround times and constant urgency is common.
In these environments, expectations can become demanding, especially when working closely with leadership. Over time, that level of pressure can affect how people experience their work.
Working Remotely with Job Duck
By comparison, working with Job Duck has been a welcome change for Desiree. She describes the environment as supportive and well-paced. What matters most, she says, is being comfortable in your structure.
As long as the work is delivered on time, there is trust in the process. Therefore, Desiree ensures that she always meets the deadlines. That approach has made a difference in how she experiences her role.
Why She Encourages Others to Apply
When asked what she would say to others considering applying, her response is simple. Give it a try. You never know where it could lead. The support, guidance, and assistance along the way make the experience worth it.
