“My Boss Is Great” – Martina from Argentina

Sharing is caring!

If you’re tired of long commutes and looking for a better work-life balance, Martina’s story might inspire you to consider a remote career with Job Duck.

Martina, who lives in Argentina, used to spend two hours each day stuck in traffic, sacrificing her hobbies in the process. However, she found an opportunity with us that made life outside of work more enjoyable.

In this Weekly Tea article, we learn more about her role, why she considers her boss exceptional, and what she enjoys in her free time.

Meet Martina

Martina is a remote professional working as an executive assistant with one of our U.S.-based employers. Her daily responsibilities include managing emails, scheduling meetings, assisting clients, drafting documents, and handling light bookkeeping tasks.

Working with Job Duck

Before joining her current position, Martina had built very close relationships with her coworkers and her previous boss. Since that role was her first job, she initially worried that she might not find the same level of understanding in a new workplace.

Additionally, working with a U.S.-based law firm has been a completely new experience. The unknown parts came in the form of different laws and U.S. taxes, as well as the subjects she encounters in her current role.

Nonetheless, those concerns quickly disappeared. Martina explained that her manager understands the cultural differences and recognizes that this was Martina’s first job working with a U.S.-based company.

She was pleasantly surprised by how supportive and understanding her new manager turned out to be. Martina further explained that she appreciates the way her boss acknowledges her work. She always takes the time to recognize the effort, Martina said.

Life Beyond Work

As the Weekly Tea interview continued, Martina mentioned that she used to sit in traffic for two hours each day on her commute. Now, without that travel time, she can use those hours more productively.

For example, Martina is currently in her last semester at university and hopes to graduate by the end of June. Therefore, she often uses the extra time before and after work to focus on her studies.

Additionally, remote work has allowed her to return to a hobby she has always loved: reading. As a child, she enjoyed reading frequently, and now she has brought that habit back into her life.

The interview concluded with Martina stating that these days, she enjoys reading romantic fantasy novels, which has become a relaxing way to start her mornings.
