“I Have a Lot of Time for Myself”- Siul from Mexico

Sharing is caring!

In this week’s Weekly Tea, we meet Siul from Mexico. He talks about his work as a legal assistant, how remote work changed his daily routine, and the advice he shares with anyone thinking about applying. Enjoy the read!

Working as a Virtual Legal Assistant

Siul has worked with Job Duck for over five years in his role as a virtual legal assistant. Some of his daily tasks include following up with court filings, preparing bills, and gathering evidence the attorney will need for upcoming cases. Additionally, he keeps every document organized so his supervisor can review what is needed without delays.

Work-Life Balance

Before joining his current role, Siul lived in France for fifteen years. He worked at the French National Library and mentioned that commuting “was pretty simple.”

When he returned to Mexico, he expected traffic to become a daily challenge. However, he came back during COVID-19 and decided to take a shot at remote work. This choice changed his expectations.

Working from home gave him more space for himself. For instance, he could walk his dogs in the morning, clock in without stress, and still have time in the afternoon to meet friends. It’s great to see that Siul maintains a healthy balance. It’s something we value at Job Duck!

Siul’s Advice

When people interested in applying reach out for advice, Siul keeps it direct. He believes applicants should be honest about what they want and avoid letting fear around English hold them back. Many professionals feel nervous when speaking with native speakers.

Nevertheless, he feels improvement comes through daily use. There are legal terms to learn, and some conversations can feel challenging at first, but progress happens step by step. His suggestion is simple:

If you want this kind of role, apply, be sincere in your interview, and allow yourself to grow through experience.
