Beyond the Desk with Maria from Mexico

Sharing is caring!

Hi, everyone! My name is Maria Fernanda Garcia Cervantes, and here is my story.

It is no surprise that more and more companies are contributing to a healthy balance between their employees’ work and personal lives, as this balance benefits each team member’s performance and productivity.

That is why I wanted to participate in the Beyond the Desk blog. This way, more and more people can choose companies that help them achieve all the goals they set for themselves in their work lives, without giving up their personal lives.

Maria as Part of a Family

Maria and her boyfriend in Mexico

My house comprises a small family, including a boyfriend, a girlfriend (me), and three dogs. Being present at every moment with this small family has been very beneficial to our progress.

I have had the time to take care of my dogs in times of illness and participate in household activities in a more equitable and participatory way.

Cooking with Passion

One of the activities that I enjoy the most and am most grateful to be able to work from home is preparing my food and enjoying it right away. Eating home-cooked food becomes quite a challenge when you work in an office. You have to plan ahead, eat cold food, or dedicate a day to meal prep

There is nothing I enjoy more than hot, freshly made food. This job has allowed me to do that and more since cooking is one of my greatest hobbies.

Art, and That’s It!

Many things in this world delight human beings, but art, beyond being made for enjoyment, is a basic need that helps the growth of human existence: a book, a song, a play.

If cooking is a delight for my body, art is a delight for my soul. Together with other activities and hobbies, it keeps me in a state of flatness and satisfaction, especially poetry.

Working without Barriers

It is no state secret that working with Job Duck provides many benefits. One of them includes working from anywhere (within your country). However, the only condition is having internet, a computer, and a quiet space. Since I started working here, I have been able to visit loved ones more often, which fills me with fulfillment, as my friends and family are very important to me.

I could even move from one city to another without leaving my responsibilities at home aside, I could do both—move and take care of my responsibilities. This is all possible without giving up my dream job.

Mexico is a Paradise!

I am Mexican, and I feel incredibly proud of it. I love the food, the people, the landscapes, the climate, and the culture. We Mexicans are very proud of our culture. Moreover, we love that people come to learn about it and show it to the world. There are so many beautiful things to discover here.

The more I grow, the more my pride for my country grows. I hope you don’t miss the beaches of the Caribbean, the belt of volcanoes that go from Michoacán to Puebla, the thousand-and-one gastronomic varieties, the accents and the dances, the music, and the traditions.

Although there have always been things that have made me feel proud of my country, I now add one more to the list. You can work with Job Duck from Mexico.

Mexico

This is just a tiny part of who I am, just as having a job. I’m a galaxy full of stars, and what can I say? Each one of them is as amazing as the others.
