Sharing is caring!

Are you tired of not having time for yourself? Meet José from El Salvador! In this edition of our Weekly Tea series, José discusses his role, work-life balance, and shares insightful tips on finding success as a remote professional working with Job Duck. Enjoy the read!

Meet José

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to manage legal files across borders? Meet José. Based in El Salvador, José works remotely as a Legal Case Manager with one of our U.S.-based employers.

His tasks include drafting documents for attorneys and insurance companies while keeping client files organized and up to date. He also manages communication between clients, attorneys, and insurance providers.

But how does he manage to complete his tasks on time and keep everything organized? For José, it comes down to clear communication and a very organized calendar.

Interestingly enough, José didn’t start with a legal background. More specifically, he knew little to no legal terms. Does that sound familiar? Many people avoid applying for specialized roles because they feel “underqualified” on paper.

However, at Job Duck, fluency in legal terms is not required. As long as you have the necessary skills and experience for the role you want to apply for, we’d say go ahead.

In José’s case, the application process changed his perspective. While he admits he applied for several jobs, the communication between him and our team made José realize that he wanted to work with Job Duck. “The communication was so consistent,” he noted.

It just goes to show that a well-organized hiring process can increase a candidate’s confidence and decrease their nervousness. We’re happy to work with you, José!

His Experience Working from Home

While José was already used to working from home for a company in El Salvador, he quickly realized that not all remote setups are created equal. Have you ever felt isolated while working from home? José found the opposite here.

Despite the distance, communication with his U.S.-based team has been more structured and supportive. He feels comfortable asking questions, and his team ensures he has the resources he needs to perform well. According to José, it has been a really good experience.

The Biggest Surprise Was the Work-Life Balance

In his old job, that balance just wasn’t there. Now, he has time to focus on work and time to spend with his loved ones. If you are currently in a similar situation where your job leaves you with nothing but work, we want you to think about how much better your life could be in a career that respects your well-being.

When José realized that clocking off means closing his laptop and spending time with his loved ones, he found the final confirmation that Job Duck is the company where he wants to build a long-term career.

Advice from Someone Who’s Been There

If you’re thinking about applying, José has some practical advice for you. First, grab a notebook and write down everything you learn.

Secondly, since no one is standing over your shoulder, being self-sufficient is very important. You must manage your own deadlines and keep an eye on the tiny details.

So, would José recommend you apply? His answer is simple: “Without hesitation.”
