With Father’s Day around the corner (June 20th), it is easy to think about the best moments in our lives. Our family leaves a print in our hearts forever. I know that I would not be the person I am today without the strength and support my father always offered me. Therefore, buying a gift and a meal for your father is a nice way to celebrate this important day. However, we believe that the most invaluable gift is priceless; the best gift for dad is the gift of time. A gift that not only will he appreciate but you will treasure in your heart for as long as you live.
What will you do today to remember in the future?
Talking with a co-worker about this topic, one of the statements that popped out was that our time in this world is finite. However, like H.G. Wells said, “We all have our time machines, don’t we? Those that take us back are memories, and those that carry us forward are dreams.” As we grow, so does our appreciation of time itself and the time we spend with our loved ones. We will always be the result of every experience, every lesson learned, and every person we allow to be part of our journey. So, I ask again, what will you do today to remember in the future?
Working from home and work-life balance
At Job Duck, we are aware that a minute that passes by will never come back. For this reason, we believe that by being a virtual assistant, you can reach a work-life balance to spend more time with your dad or vice-versa with your kids. Working from home allows you to spend your breaks with your loved ones, share meals, and immediately after finishing your shift, go out and create new beautiful memories. Quality time has to do with the meaningfulness of the moments spent together. In other words, using these moments with your family wisely is very important. The reasons for this are plenty: it could be because of the legacy, to show your love, inculcate values, understand one another, strengthen bonds, learn, and teach.
When working from home, you can visit your parents and not miss out on their wisdom and knowledgeable advice. Also, if you have a family of your own, you can provide for your family and be more involved in their daily activities. You get to be with your kids if they are feeling sick, you see them learn new things, have lunch together, and when the day is over, you can play with them, watch movies, help them with their homework, and more. Instead of wasting time commuting, get more quality time with your loved ones.
Points to ponder
For this celebration to be memorable, you can schedule a walk; remind your dad of everything you are grateful for; engage in a long conversation; or plan a family trip. Nevertheless, you don’t have to wait for the third Sunday of June to nurture your family’s relationship with these activities. We can assure you that you will never look back and think: I spent too much time with my family. Quite the opposite, actually, so live without regrets.
Finally, has it crossed your mind that the passage of time seems to increase its speed exponentially? That is one of the reasons why time is so precious. No matter what we do, time will not stop. The only thing we can do is adapt since we only have the present and the uncertainty of the future. Focus on enjoying even the simplest, most mundane tasks by living in the present in a way you will never regret later on. Happy Father’s Day to all dads out there!
