Sharing is caring!
If you’re looking for a bit of inspiration today, you’ve come to the right place. In this week’s edition of the Weekly Tea series, we introduce you to Olivia from Brazil, who shares her incredible experience of discovering Job Duck and building her career as a remote professional.
Getting to Know Olivia’s Workday
Olivia works as a virtual receptionist for one of our U.S.-based employers. Her day-to-day tasks include answering and returning calls, organizing schedules, arranging appointments, and keeping email communication on track. Olivia enjoys having clear responsibilities and feels more confident when she knows exactly what the team expects from her.
How Olivia Found Job Duck
She first discovered Job Duck while searching online for remote opportunities. The logo caught her eye immediately. It reminded her of a Brazilian cartoon called Osvaldo. There’s an episode where Osvaldo visits his father’s workplace and draws a giant duck with a thumbs-up.
Olivia felt it was a sign; however, her curiosity grew even more once she started reading about our mission. She connected with how we support remote professionals and how we guide them through each step of the process. That connection encouraged her to learn more, and eventually, to apply.
A New Kind of Work Life Balance
Olivia explained that in Brazil, employees often carry multiple responsibilities within a single role. Before working from home, she worked at a hotel. She handled reception, reservations, sales, and other tasks that showed up during the day. Because of that background, she expected something similar when she joined her current job.
However, she quickly learned that she was only expected to do the tasks she was hired for.
At first, she worried she wasn’t doing enough. After speaking with her boss, she understood that she was performing exactly as expected. That conversation helped her relax, and therefore she could focus on delivering her best without feeling pressured to add more.
Her Experience with Job Duck
Olivia described herself as anxious and shy, which makes hiring processes difficult. She usually fears making mistakes or misunderstanding instructions. Nevertheless, she said our approach felt steady, friendly, and transparent.
She always knew what came next, and that consistency helped her stay calm. Instead of feeling intimidated, she felt encouraged. According to her, the experience gave her confidence and made the entire transition feel manageable.
