Sharing is caring!

Hello, everyone. My name is Carolina, and I’m Job Duck’s Content Creator. In recognition of Women’s Day, I decided to write a blog about something that has completely changed my life: being a mom.
Rethinking What Balance Means
Before I had my son, Mateo, I thought I understood what “balance” meant. I thought it was about calendars and time blocks and getting everything done.
However, I now realize it’s so much more personal than that. It’s about being present, even in the middle of emails, meetings, and deadlines.
Growing Up Right in Front of Me
My little boy is a year and a half now. He’s at that stage where every day he says something new, tries something new, climbs something new (usually something he shouldn’t).
And the fact that I get to witness those small, ordinary, beautiful moments means everything to me (more than I ever imagined).
What Working with Job Duck Gave Me
Working from home, especially with Job Duck, has given me something I didn’t even realize I would value this much: time. Not just being able to be home with him, but a real, everyday presence.
I get to see his sleepy face in the morning without rushing out the door. I get to hear him laugh from the other room. Sometimes he wanders into my workspace just to check in. And honestly, those tiny interruptions are the best part of my day. I couldn’t imagine it being any other way.
Letting Him See Me Work and Care
There’s something so meaningful about him growing up simply seeing me and not just for a couple of hours before bedtime, but throughout the day. He sees me working, staying focused, and solving problems.
He also sees me hug him in between tasks. We have lunch together, and at times, sit on the floor for a couple of minutes to play with his toys (HUGE Disney Cars fan, by the way).
Being able to pause when he needs a little extra of my time matters more than I can explain (moms will get what I’m talking about).
When It’s Not Perfect
Let me clarify. It’s not always perfect. Some days are messy. Some days I feel stretched thin. But I’ve learned that it’s okay for both things to be true: I can love my career and love being his mom with my whole heart.
One doesn’t take away from the other. If anything, they strengthen each other.
Not Having to Choose
Being able to build my professional life while also being present for his childhood has shown me how powerful flexibility can be, especially for us women. We shouldn’t have to choose between ambition and motherhood. We are capable of both.
This Women’s Day, I’m Grateful
This Women’s Day, I’m especially grateful. I’m grateful for opportunities that allow me to grow professionally without missing the small details of our day-to-day.
Grateful for a career that fits into our life instead of pulling me away from it. And most of all, grateful that my son gets to grow up knowing I’m there, not just at the beginning and end of the day, but in the middle of it all.
To every mom figuring it out as she goes: you’re doing more than you think. And the moments you’re present for? They matter more than you imagine.
